Ever before ask yourself why some Facebook cover images look much better compared to others on mobile? The solution is always a fantastic developer (not that I'm biased or anything), but I recently uncovered an awesome technique to help less of your effort obtain cut off when watching from a mobile phone-- as well as still look wonderful on desktop computer.
Dreadful as I am at keeping in mind numbers, I'm constantly googling "FB cover picture size" (or seeing our quick-reference infographic), and also the initial answer that constantly turns up is 851 × 315, which is what the cover image shows at on a desktop internet browser. If your only concern is desktop computer, this is a great size to post your cover picture. Unfortunately, we can not overlook the 798 million users who access Facebook daily with their cellphones.
Before I located this method, choices for maximizing a cover picture for both desktop computer & mobile were extremely minimal: either make the prime focus really small to show appropriately on mobile, or make it look excellent on desktop and sacrifice the mobile experience.
Ugh.
OK, I'll cut to the chase. Post a photo that is 851 × 475. With cover pictures taller compared to desktop shows, 2 things take place:.
Desktop computer cuts off the top & base of the photo (luckily, it cuts off an equivalent amount from both).
Mobile will certainly still cut off several of the sides of the picture, but we have a substantially bigger viewable location.
