Ever wonder why some Facebook cover photos look much better than others on mobile? The response is constantly a terrific designer (not that I'm biased or anything), however I lately found a clever technique to help much less of your hard work obtain removed when seeing from a mobile phone-- as well as still look terrific on desktop computer.
Awful as I am at remembering numbers, I'm constantly googling "FB cover image dimension" (or seeing our quick-reference infographic), as well as the initial answer that constantly turns up is 851 × 315, which is what the cover picture presents at on a desktop computer browser. If your only problem is desktop, this is a fine dimension to submit your cover photo. Sadly, we could not neglect the 798 million users who access Facebook daily with their mobile phones.
Before I discovered this trick, choices for maximizing a cover picture for both desktop & mobile were really limited: either make the centerpiece extremely little to show appropriately on mobile, or make it look good on desktop computer as well as sacrifice the mobile experience.
Ugh.
OK, I'll reduce to the chase. Post a picture that is 851 × 475. With cover images taller compared to desktop computer programs, 2 points take place:.
Desktop computer removes the top & base of the picture (the good news is, it cuts off an equal quantity from both).
Mobile will certainly still remove several of the sides of the photo, however we have a dramatically larger viewable area.
